GIVING TUESDAY: Consider a Gift to MADE SAFE

What would you give to protect your family, future generations, our water, our aquatic life, our planet?

At MADE SAFE we think about the ecosystem all-day, every day. Our rigorous 360-degree approach to vetting ingredients and materials takes into consideration the impact of a product’s components – not only on the humans who use the products, but also the impact on the environment and other creatures on this planet.

You can see our commitment to safer products through our Banned List^SM. This list alone contains over 6,500 substances prohibited from use in MADE SAFE certified products – and that’s only the first hurdle to clear in earning MADE SAFE certification through the Ecosystem Approach.

We see it as our mission to use this approach to make it easier for you to choose ecosystem-sound products for you and your family. Weeding through all of the chemical names and available literature is a lot of work, and we don’t think you should have to do hours of research just to find a lotion that’s safe for your family to use! That’s what we see as our job. We’re here, investigating ingredients, publicizing our findings, and making it easier for you to choose better products, until we make the need for our work obsolete.

Despite a year that has posed unique challenges, in 2020 we accomplished much to be proud of in only the fifth year of MADE SAFE’s existence. A few milestones included launching the Healthy Pregnancy Guide in partnership with the Plastic Pollution Coalition, publicly introducing our MADE SAFE Banned List^SM of over 6,500 substances and inputs not permitted in MADE SAFE products, and hosting our fourth Annual Raise the Green Bar Summit in partnership with the Good Housekeeping Institute. We have much to be thankful for at MADE SAFE this year, but there is still so much more work to be done.

MADE SAFE^® is a program of Nontoxic Certified, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Your support helps us continue toward our goal of proving the market will not only support, but welcome safe and sustainable products – as long as consumers have a recognizable and reliable way to spot them.
