“The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it” – Robert Swan
This quote, coupled with a determination to protect their children, encompasses the principles that Pure Natural Cleaners is founded on. They struggled with their children’s allergic reactions to conventional laundry detergents, and upon learning that their family wasn’t alone in dealing with these reactions, they set out to create a laundry detergent that was harmless to their children’s health and the environment.
Many conventional laundry detergents can contain surfactants, which is what makes the product suds. Sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate are classic examples of these ingredients. These two chemicals are powerful irritants, and they’re also harmful to aquatic life. Products that suds, like laundry detergent, are also commonly contaminated with the cancer-causing chemical 1.4-dioxane.
What’s more, many laundry detergents come with secret toxic fragrance chemicals that are potent enough for that scent to remain on your clothes through a full wash AND dryer cycle. Common fragrance ingredients include phthalates, linked to hormone disruption and reproductive harm in baby boys, and synthetic musks, hormone disruptors that have been shown to build up in blood and breast milk.
In contrast, Pure Natural Laundry Detergent is fragrance free, and its surfactant is a soap berry-based ingredient called berry saponin concentrate. It’s MADE SAFE certified, which literally means it’s made with safe ingredients not known to harm human health, animals, or ecosystems. In addition to being MADE SAFE certified, the Burgan family put extra effort into ensuring their ingredients are plant-based and non-GMO.
