Products that suds, like laundry detergent, are also commonly contaminated with the cancer-causing chemical 1.4-dioxane.
What’s more, many laundry detergents come with secret toxic fragrance chemicals that are potent enough for that scent to remain on your clothes through a full wash AND dryer cycle. Common fragrance ingredients include phthalates, linked to hormone disruption and reproductive harm in baby boys, and synthetic musks, hormone disruptors that have been shown to build up in blood and breast milk.
